My photo gallery works again!

Deleted Database

Saturday, August 27th, 2005

Gosh, I’m a freakin’ idiot! Somehow I deleted my Wordpress database and lost all of my news posts, pages, links, comments and categories…pretty much everything that matters on the site. So I created a new database and everything that is stored on the server still worked fine (photo gallery, style stuff, footer, header…all that good junk). So I started messing around trying to get the permalinks to work again and I figured it out. But now the Flickr plugin for the photo gallery isn’t working right and I have no idea why.

Thanks to msn’s search engine (which finds my site much better than google does) and their cached pages they have stored of my site I was able to repost the old news I wanted to keep.

The photo gallery still doesn’t work and I’m going down to San Diego to drink at Peebs’ new house tonight so I’ll figure it out later.

etnies Shameless Plugs

Saturday, August 27th, 2005

Ok, these are definitely shameless plugs considering I chose to use my own photos and asked for photo credit, but my self promotion is beside the point; the point is that you can now download the sweetest X Games wallpapers everrrr over at etnies.com. And if you’re really felling bored, play the wallpaper contest that Randy accidental/on-purposely came up with and win a pair of shoes. Here’s your exclusive Cropley Imagery hint: Think Where’s Waldo?

Gone Without Trace

Gone Without Trace, Cropley Imagery, Ryan Cropley

My good friend Danny, bass player for Gone Without Trace, asked me if I would shoot some photos of the band. I had never shot photos of bands before and I didn’t really know what to expect. But I figured I couldn’t screw it up that bad, so we met up and decided upon this old school iron shop (they are a metal band) to try out some dark looking shit. With lighting only from the street lights, my truck, a cop’s spot light, and ISO 1600 and 3200, we made do and got the shot. I think it turned out pretty cool and those music nerds almost look tough too!

A Little History Lesson

Saturday, August 27th, 2005

Studying history is supposed to teach us how not to repeat the mistakes of the past, right? Well here is a history lesson for ya; If a dead whale washes up on your beach DO NOT try to blow up the whale with a half ton of dynamite.

The Battle at Primm

SCORE Primm 300, Primm, Desert Assassins, Cropley Imagery, Ryan Cropley

The Primm300 is by far my favorite off-road race to attend. Not just because the racing is fun (racing is always fun!) but because of the debauchery and gambling! The night after last year’s race the whole team dressed in some ghetto-ass 70’s/80’s gear that we bought from a senior citizens thrift store in Barstow. The infamous “Tree bar” went nuts that night and there were rumors of an unidentified person in 80’s drag and a mullet actually climbing the tree (swear it wasn’t me, I was busy emptying my bank account at the blackjack tables!).

While unfortunately I don’t have footage of that night (only this one photo) there is plenty of race video to see. Check out this race footy from the 2004 Primm 300. It’s about 30mb, but it’s well worth the long download with sick on-board shots and some good nerfing courtesy of the Desert Assassins and Hi-tech Video.
