So I was flippin’ through Black Men Magazine the other day (don’t ask) and came across this Suzuki ad featuring Ricky Carmichael for the 2006 Suzuki RM250Z. “Cool” I thought, “a moto ad in a semi-porno magazine! Sweet!”

Then I read the text: “Everyone knows women can’t resist bad boys…and the limited edition 2006 Suzuki RM250Z, an exact replica of the one ridden by Team Makita Suzuki Racing champ Ricky Carmichael, is the baddest boy of them all. The Motocross model boasts racing graphics, gold-colored wheels, and a black seat—hot enough to make her want to pull up to your bumper…baby!”

What is Suzuki really saying?

While I can’t argue that chicks dig dirt bikers (they totally do!), all that other junk in there (sexiest cycle, bad-boy attitude, blingin’ gold rims, hot black seat?), well, seems to be directed toward stereotypes. If I was a black guy looking for a dirt bike I would not even consider a Suzuki — I would go buy from a manufacture like Kawasaki who supports motocross riders like James Stewart… actually, I take that back, I’d still ride a Honda!

I don’t know what the deal is, but for some reason I keep doing sequences of Renner. Probably because he’s a bad-ass on a dirt bike and makes everything he does on one look friggin’ cool… or maybe because he doesn’t give a shit and will prance around like a spastic break dancer on meth after his run at every contest. Yep, that’s why!

It bums me out that he didn’t get invited to Step Up for X Games… After watching this years step up I have little doubt that Renner would be hanging a Gold medal on his wall right about now had he been riding. Oh well… at least he’s got the biggest whip everrrrrr going for him.

It was a long, long weekend. Tons of crazy shit went down and most of it was done by Travis Pastrana. Single flip KOD’s (we pretty much have to call them single flips now because of that double flip business, hahah), single flip lazy boy’s and of course, the Double Backflipper!

Got some Supermoto goods too.

All that was well and good, but you can’t forget those guys fighting for second and third place. Jim McNeil and Adam Jones were riding insane with stuff like single flip Cordova’s and seat grab Indian airs, plus, these guys have their non-inverted tricks dialed. It seems the rest of ‘em were dropping like flys trying to ride at the level of TP, that or just going for crazy ass tricks. It was not even fun to watch during the Freestyle prelims — just scary. The finals were good, though. McNeil got shafted on his score, but it happens to everyone sometimes. It happens to Mason and Jones all the time, but things come full circle and look at them now… bronze and silver respectively.

Step Up was really weird this year.
Actually, it was more lame than weird.

Did I mention I hate the ticket checker guys (the chicks aren’t as bad) at all venues? Well, I do! They cost me at least a few sweet shots in between changing angles between runs by not letting me sit in completely empty sections of stands. WTF!? Sorry, had to vent.

Going to LA tonight for some party and will be in town all through the weekend. I’ll post up some photos of whatever sports I end up shooting (fmx, supermoto, bmx, rally, chicks, maybe skate, aggressive synchronized skipping, etc.) when I get a spare minute and find wireless internet.
