In the paper on 6/6/6 — The Omen?

I had a bunch of photos run in the San Clemente Sun Post on June 6, 2006…also known as 6/6/6, the day of the beast. I also saw the movie The Omen on 6/6/6. It made me wonder if maybe it was an omen that my first photos in my hometown newspaper were published on 6/6/6. What if my camera is the Antichrist of cameras? The em-camera-bodiment of evil in off-road photography!

This could be really good or really bad for me. On the good side, the camera could take the most amazing pictures ever seen, and I would unknowingly reap the financial benefits on the way to the top of the photography world in my camera’s quest for evil world domination. On the bad side of the possibilities, I could be like the Father in the movie, just a pawn getting in the way of the cmera’s evil world domination plans…a pawn that needs to be exterminated quickly. That would suck.

I think I’ll just put it on eBay to be safe. Anyone wanna to buy a camera?

espn the magazine off-road Buddy Rice
espn the magazine off-road Buddy Rice

Well, only if every reader of ESPN The Magazine looked at the photo credit on p.86 in this weeks issue–which I’m sure they didn’t. My photo of the Desert Assassins #16 Trophy Truck from the 2005 Baja 1000 has a full page dedicated to it for the opening of a feature article about IRL racer Buddy Rice’s Baja 1000 adventure. I’m pretty pumped on this as it’s my first shot in a major mainstream mag. Hell yeah!

San Felipe 250!

SCORE San Felipe 250
Thought this was a cool shot…

Who would have thought that on a short trip to San Felipe you could encounter just about every possible weather condition known to man? We had high winds, no winds, dust devils, temps from the 40’s to +80’s, torrential downpours, clear skies, partly cloudy, mostly cloudy, cloudy, sprinkles, mist, hail and even snow! Did I forget any? Booger was partyin’. The racing was sweet. The Desert Assassins didn’t do quite as well as we had hoped, and that should explain the lack of DA race photos. But it’s alright, I predict a DA win at the 500…you heard it here first. I saw about 20 near death’s at Zoo Road. What, you wanted proof? Check out all my 146 San Felipe 250 race photos. If you see something you like just contact me.

Heavy amounts of booze were consumed and I have the incriminating photos to prove it! I uploaded a crap load of them to my Flickr account. Check ‘em out! Maybe even sign up for an account, leave some comments and talk some shit!

The Battle at Primm

SCORE Primm 300, Primm, Desert Assassins, Cropley Imagery, Ryan Cropley

The Primm300 is by far my favorite off-road race to attend. Not just because the racing is fun (racing is always fun!) but because of the debauchery and gambling! The night after last year’s race the whole team dressed in some ghetto-ass 70’s/80’s gear that we bought from a senior citizens thrift store in Barstow. The infamous “Tree bar” went nuts that night and there were rumors of an unidentified person in 80’s drag and a mullet actually climbing the tree (swear it wasn’t me, I was busy emptying my bank account at the blackjack tables!).

While unfortunately I don’t have footage of that night (only this one photo) there is plenty of race video to see. Check out this race footy from the 2004 Primm 300. It’s about 30mb, but it’s well worth the long download with sick on-board shots and some good nerfing courtesy of the Desert Assassins and Hi-tech Video.
